Recent Monumental Hotel Orlando Review: "I stayed there 9 nights so I got a good idea of the place and after awhile it seemed like home. No one bothered us and there was lots of privacy. It seemed a bit like an old fashioned expensive hotel that has been completely renovated with a nice exception that the room and bathroom were quite large for a grand old dame. It was nice. I really don't  know if it was old or if it was just designed to look that way. It wasn't brand new but it also seemed new enough. I know that sounds like a contradiction but you knew it defintiely wasn't like a chain hotel. The only downside might be the high speed internet is only available as wired in your room. Wireless is available only in the lobby so the Wi Fi on the Iphone didn't work upstairs. But the wired internet of course has no problems with a dead spot occuring right where your room happens to be like I've had in other hotels. The pool was great. There is no exercise facility or tuck shop (although there is a shop next door and a 7 eleven down the street) so if you want that it isn't here but if you want a big clean room and big hallways with automatic doors and fast elevators at a great price this is a good deal. My one exception to another review I read would be that it stated the bed was very comfy and it was in my opinion just a littel better than average. They do put a foam pad on it to soften it up but I guess I have stayed in very few hotels that had comfortable beds so probably I'm a bit picky on that. Or maybe the guy that said it had stayed there when the pad was brand new. it didn't seem busy even when it was fully booked on the weekend meaning we never had to wait more than 20 seconds for an elevator and there was tons of room in the parking lot so we never had to drive around looking for a spot. I read another review that said the woods out back scared some man's wife but I think that was an over anxious person. It wasn't really a woods. More like a row of trees a long ways back separating the hotel from villa"
