Recent Metropolitan Express Review: "The hotel was about what I expected for the price. The lobby had a sitting area with a TV, and was relatively generic. The person at the front desk upon check-in was very professional, helpful, and polite. He was the only staff member I really had any meaningful interaction with, but even with a line of people waiting to check-in he was very well-mannered  and pleasant. The carpeting along the hallways definitely needed to be replaced, it was coming up at parts along the wall. The hallways with rooms that allowed smoking smelled of smoke, but the room I requested (non-smoking) had no odor at all. The room was clean as far as I noticed. The TV had few channels that came through with decent reception, but since I was only staying for the night that didn't bother me. It is located on International Drive about as close to Universal Studios as it can be, and is in the thick of the tourist section. Mini golf, souvenir shops, restaurants and more surrounded the hotel. The free breakfast was actually better than expected. There was an assortment of muffins, pastries, cereal, bagels, toast, and juices. Overall it met my expectations for the low price, and was even a bit better than expected."
