Recent Best Western Gateway Near Review: "Best Western Gateway Orlando used to be my preferred hotel of choice back when it was the Floridian (and then the Clarion and other monikers), which goes back almost 2 decades. However, increasing prices and decreasing facilities drove me away to find better accommodations. However, this weekend I decided to give them a chance under the BW banner, and  I'm really glad I did. We stay in Orlando about twice a month for both business and pleasure, and we've stayed at many places out of curiosity, but there are only a few we return to over and over. BW is definitely back on that list. The staff is very friendly and helpful, something that was consistent throughout our stay. Any needs (the only one being that there were no towels at the pool around 10:00p) were promptly remedied. Check in and check out were quick and efficient. The facilities were clean. The halls, shops, pool area, and parking lot were all well lit and tended to. The room was comfortable and quiet. We were near ice machine/soda machine and just around the corner from the elevator, yet we never heard a single sound during our stay, not even a slamming door. And the hotel was near capacity. The biggest surprise was that Sharky & Jack's Bar & Grill had excellent food and service. If given the choice, I would always dine on premises but often the food is not the best. And given that we were across the street from my favorite restaurant in all of Orlando, I was tempted to go off-site for dinner, but we opted for staying in, and we were glad we did. All of our orders were delicious and the bar service was prompt. It's a shame that for a Friday night there weren't more diners, but then again it was near 9:00p. And you cannot beat the location of this hotel. It's off International Drive on Universal Boulevard, situated across from the lake that backs up to Wet And Wild (which is a perfect spot to watch the summer storms that roll in from the West). A short guide to Universal Orlando - International Drive North

International Drive's largest claim to fame is the Universal Orlando Resort, home to two theme parks — Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios; the water park, Wet 'n Wild; and the entertainment area, CityWalk. The I-Ride trolley (really a bus) stops frequently along the street. At the north end of International Drive are two shopping meccas: Prime Outlets-Orlando and The Mall at Millenia.
